To open an account via Internet, you need a domestic SMS enabled mobile phone and an e-mail address. Also, you need to meet the following general conditions for account opening listed further below. Note that the applicant himself/herself must apply. You cannot apply on behalf of someone or ask someone to apply for you.
- The age 18 or above
- Resident registration is in Japan
- Jurisdiction of tax residence is either only Japan or the United States
The following individuals cannot open an account via Internet. Please contact a branch near you or 0120-504-189 (Within Japan /Toll-free).
- Foreign Politically Exposed Persons (foreign PEPs) under the "Act on Prevention of Transfer of Criminal Proceeds"
- Jurisdiction of tax residence includes countries other than Japan and or the United States
