  • The above fees are for your reference only.
  • If the overseas remittance goes through multiple intermediary banks, additional intermediary bank fees may be deducted from the transfer amount.
  • Other than intermediary bank fees, the receiving bank may deduct a fee before depositng the funds into the beneficiary's deposit account.

Who Pays the Intermediary Bank Fee

In principle, beneficiary pays all bank charges including intermediary bank fee. However, you can select an option "Charge to Remitter"(*) at a branch, by mail or via PRESTIA Phone Banking. For "Charge to Remitter", we charge the designated fee (pay in full) when we take the overseas remittance request.

(*) Charge to Remitter: Instruct intermediary bank(s) to charge intermediary bank fee(s) to SMBC Trust Bank. Please note the following.

  • Some intermediary banks may not accept a wire transfer in which the applicant opts to pay the relevant fees. In such a case, the beneficiary would have to pay the relevant fees even if the applicant should choose to pay the fees.
  • The intermediary bank fees are non-refundable under any circumstances.
